Greens support the ban of cosmetics or cosmetic ingredients which have undergone animal testing

Media Release
Lee Rhiannon 29 Aug 2013

Commenting on today’s announcement by the Labor Party that they would phase out the sale of cosmetics which have been tested on animals, the Australian Greens have supported the RSPCA’s call for all political parties to commit to this.

Australian Greens spokesperson for animal welfare Senator Lee Rhiannon said: “This must not be just another election eve announcement and we are ready to work with all parties to ensure this is legislated.

“'No animal testing' has been a long standing policy of the Australian Greens.

“Ending animal cruelty must be priority and this is why we are calling for an Independent Office of Animal Welfare that is independent of government and the Department of Agriculture”, said Senator Rhiannon.
