Community pressure puts Wollongong Senate TAFE Inquiry back on the agenda

Media Release
Lee Rhiannon 8 Apr 2014

Greens spokesperson on TAFE Senator Lee Rhiannon said:

"I am relieved to hear that the TAFE Senate Inquiry hearing in Wollongong is being rescheduled following today's last minute cancellation because of a Coalition no show.

"Many locals, TAFE students and teachers had put a lot of hard work into today's hearing and when they found out it had been cancelled, they quickly moved into action to ensure their views were not disregarded.

"With 14 TAFE Illawarra campuses from Wollongong up to the Southern Highlands and down to Bega on the far South Coast it is vital that the Senate understands the implications of the funding cuts in this region under the Coalition and Labor.

Senator Rhiannon is currently in Wollongong meeting with locals and hearing the evidence they had planned to present to the full inquiry.
