Lee's Travel Expenses January 2018

Lee's duties as a Senator for NSW and a portfolio holder for the Australian Greens require her to travel both within NSW and interstate. Senate related travel is paid for using parliamentary allowances.

As Australian Greens spokesperson for democracy Lee has long campaigned for more scrutiny of how MPs use allowances and  for this information to be made public as close to real time as possible.

Wagga Wagga 78er challenges new Deputy Prime Minister to join him at Mardi Gras

Ray Goodlass a resident of Wagga Wagga and one of the famous Mardi Gras 78ers has extended an invitation to new Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack to join him at the 40th anniversary Mardi Gras parade in Sydney.

In 1993 as editor of the Daily Advertiser in Wagga Wagga, McCormack wrote incredibly inflammatory and homophobic remarks in regards to the LGBTQIA+ community. McCormack has since released an apology for those remarks.

More proof Govt electoral funding Bill is a dud - Abbott’s success with donations for Liberals would still be legal

Today’s report that former PM Tony Abbott successfully solicited political donations from property developer Huang Xiangmo is further proof that the Turnbull Government’s electoral funding Bill currently before parliament will not end the corrupting influence of big money.

The Greens are stepping up their campaign to have the Bill withdrawn and new legislation agreed to that introduces strict caps on all political donations to political parties irrespective of their source.

Let’s learn from Florida tragedy – Australia needs tighter gun control

Greens gun control spokesperson Senator Lee Rhiannon has said the horrifying shooting at a Florida school gives further weight to the need to strengthen and enforce Australia’s National Firearms Agreement.

“The Florida massacre is deeply tragic. As we send our condolences to the victims and their families and wish those injured a speedy recovery we need to step up our efforts to consolidate gun control measures across all states and territories,” Senator Rhiannon said.
