Billson snubs parliamentary rules and collects extra $75,000

Bruce Billson's apology for his flagrant breach of parliamentary rules is not good enough and he should donate to charity the money he received from a top lobby group while still a member of parliament, Greens democracy spokesperson Senator Lee Rhiannon said.

"What is the point of having rules for MPs and ministers if they can be breached with no consequences," Senator Rhiannon said.

"The Prime Minister's weak leadership is again on display with a third former Coalition government minister blatantly flouting parliamentary rules.

Greens spokesperson for democracy Senator Lee Rhiannon has warned that former trade minister Andrew Robb’s new job with Landbridge Group, who were awarded a 99 year lease over the Port of Darwin last year, may lead to a breach of the Ministerial Standards.

Senator Lee Rhiannon said, “The revolving door between the political class and the mining and resources sector causes deep cynicism about MPs and democratic institutions.
