Helicopter inspection boosts northern railway reopening campaign

When the Casino to Murwillumbah rail line was closed in 2004 by the then Carr Labor government local communities were robbed of an essential transport service. The Greens are passionate about restoring this rail line like we are about expanding public transport services across the country. 

Public transport is a social justice and an environment issue. 

When this rail line was closed Labor attempted to justify their very wrong decision by arguing that it was underutilised and was closed in the name of efficiency.

Motion: Cruise ship terminals

Lee moves that mandatory minimum standards be applied to cruise ships at White Bay to limit the pollution Sydney residents are exposed to.  The motion was defeated on the combined vote of Labor and the Coalition.

Adjournment speech: New South Wales State Election

Senator RHIANNON (New South Wales) (22:19): The New South Wales Liberal and National parties are hell-bent on selling off our collective wealth. While Premier Michael Baird might put a smiley face on the harsh coalition policies, he is not dissimilar from his friend and neighbour, Prime Minister Tony Abbott. Privatisation is a key election platform for the NSW Liberal and National parties. Support for big business, particularly by opening up the sale of public services and assets, is the foundation of the New South Wales coalition government.
