Greens attend Cruelty Free Festival NSW

Media Release
Lee Rhiannon 28 Oct 2016
Greens animal welfare spokesperson Senator Lee Rhiannon will attend the Cruelty Free Festival NSW this weekend, jointly hosted by Animal Liberation. Greens NSW have a stall at the festival.

Senator Rhiannon said, “The growing interest and attendance at Cruelty Free Festivals shows there is overwhelming public demand for humane and accountable treatment of animals. Successive governments have failed to reflect that sentiment, and refused to change the disgracefully inadequate minimum animal welfare standards in many industries.

“From campaigning to end the cruel live export industry to banning greyhound racing across the country, the Greens are the only party that is strong on animal welfare.

“We want to see an Independent Office of Animal Welfare established to promote and oversee rigorous animal welfare standards across the board, and we will be reintroducing our Voice for Animals (Independent Office of Animal Welfare) Bill shortly,” Senator Rhiannon said.

When: Sunday 30 October 2016.

Where: Australian Technology Park, Locomotive St, Eveleigh NSW 2015, Australia.
